A collection with which we wanted to honor its name, since they are authentically Manchego . Both the flocks that provide the wool and the entire yarn-making process are here, in Castilla La Mancha.
The white wool comes from the Las Banderas Ranch in the Serranía de Cuenca . There, Raú l takes care of his La Mancha sheep. He practices transhumance and when the time comes, he guides his flock to the Sierra de Andujar looking for new pastures.
The black or rather brown wool that characterizes Spanish wool is provided by the friend José de la Ganadería Jesús Giménez Diezma. He has a herd of Black Manchego sheep , one of the few left. In the Montes de Toledo they graze freely and only take shelter on the farm when they need José's protection.
Think of this wool as Spain's answer to Iceland's Plotulopi. Lightweight and warm, you can knit this as a single strand or held double. Should the wool break, simply rub the ends back together between your hands.
